MY CANDIDATE STATEMENT FOR YOUR PARTY CENTRAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE EAST OF ENGLAND
I am standing as an independent candidate to the CEC, not aligned to any slate. I am 61 years young and have been a lifelong socialist and community activist from my early teens, when I was a civil servant supporting the miners strikes.
Although I have been in the political wilderness since 2019, I continued my community work alongside campaigning and protesting both locally and nationally on matters that affect us all as well as abroad. I have lived in Bedfordshire for 40 years but originally come from London. I was instrumental in starting the first breakfast, afterschool and holiday clubs in Bedfordshire in the early 1990s, rolling out the programme to the rest of the country through the DofE, as an NVQ Assessor and Trainer.
I have led a community based youth centre and adventure playground in Elephant and Castle, providing support, mentoring, training, environmental and food programmes to families and young people.
I have also worked in the corporate world as a trainer for Volkswagen Audi Cars and then business development manager for Suzuki GB in the Motorbike division developing corporate identity and the dealership network, and yes I ride a motorcycle!
I am described by my friends and colleagues as a tenacious doer and organiser. When the pandemic hit, I hit the ground running as part of a team delivering the emergency response in my town and surrounding villages, through BLEVEC and the local Cert Team, and later as a charity co-founder. I established a foodbank, community fridge and community centre, which still continues today. I was part of the Emergency team to hold the first Testing Centre in the country in Luton, and also headed up the team running our Vaccine Centre with over 300 volunteers. I am privileged to still be a BLEVEC Commander today.
I am deeply passionate about community and we should catch our most vulnerable, supporting each other. We all deserve decent affordable housing, free accessible health care, free accessible education, a living wage, and a decent transport system. I will advocate for nationalisation of our key services to lift us out of this #costofliving pandemic.
I will be completely committed to ensuring that Your Party is a grassroots led member party, not led from the top down, but by ordinary members like me and you. I will be completely transparent and hold the other CEC members and MPs to account, and ensure that ALL local branches will have the independence and finances they need to deliver in their areas.
Thank you for your support. Endorsements of my application will open on Weds 21 January and will close on 29 Jan 2026. You will need to be a #YourpartyUK member and in the East of England Constituency to endorse me.
